ABOUT ME

I was born in February of 1973, which makes me a fish and a cow. I think that says a lot about me.

I'm a half Korean and half Vietnamese mother of two fairly awesome and interesting younger people named Joey and Maddi and now also a little 4th of July firecracker named Isabella (we usually call her Izzy). And I am madly in love with a tall, white, and handsome Man who eats everything I make for him with gusto, brews amazing beer, plays guitar, shares my near unnatural love of really good sushi, is an awesome dad and stepdad, and generally rocks my world all the time.

I've lived some interesting and some would say unenviable life to get to this place.

Clearly, I love food. All kinds of it. And so very much. And music. And dance. And swear words. I also have a very conflicted love-hate relationship with pop culture.

I admire people who live their beliefs while respecting the beliefs of others. I try to do the same with some success some of the time.

A bighuge THANK YOU to each person who comes back and keeps reading, for your support and inspiration. Even if one day you should find this blog no longer serves you, you have already lent me a much needed ear and given me much appreciated motivation to continue to hone my bliss.

With love,

shinae

I am loving G+ as social media and find that it has all kinds of useful functionality to facilitate sharing and discussion of all kinds of content, including cooking and food in general. This is also where I conduct my Cookalongs, and those are turning out to be lots of fun. :)

  2. Alright, so you're a little miracle in this vast wasteland of food narrative narcissists. Your blog has personality and f-l-a-i-r. Love reading it. The relationships in your life--and their foodcentric manifestations--are simple, true and deserving of the amazing recognition you give them!

I'm such a fan. Would you mind reading some of my blog entries and offering some tips..? Obviously you're plate is already full, but if you have one of those tired-eyed leftover nights, this gay boy'd love some wise words.

In any event, I'll keep reading--it's better written (and much more meaningful) than the same old, same old world of Jersey shore satellite TV. I'm more of a "Once Upon a Time" fan myself, and your words are, if nothing else, magically inspired.

    1. OMG I am so hormonal right now. You're going to make me cry like a waababy.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and leave your very thoughtful comments on my blog.

I'd be happy to read your blog so we can commiserate our bloggerhood. :)

P.S. I don't watch Jersey Shore, but Jersey Housewives entertain me to no end. :P

  3. My pleasure! (NYC Housewives for me; Ramona is irresistibly ridiculous and terrifying.):)

    1. LOL. I was just watching old season reruns and if it's possible, she's gotten even wackier. But Aviva has taken her place as my least fave Housewife. :P
